If it were not for flood control structures in Arkansas, trout fishing opportunities would be very limited. The Spring River in northeast Arkansas is the only naturally occurring cold water stream suitable for trout. This cold water is due to Mammoth Springs putting out over nine million gallons per hour of 58 degree water.

The dams at Beaver, Bull Shoals, Norfork, and Greers Ferry have created a world-class trout fishery. The climate allows for year-round growth, but also allows for year-round opportunities to chase these numerous, record-setting bruisers.
