MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

The next NW Arkansas TU Chapter meeting will take place on Thursday, July 28, 2022. We will be meeting at the Eat My Catfish restaurant located at 32 West Joyce Street in Fayetteville, AR.

In addition to social time and Chapter updates, we have an exciting program scheduled this evening. Carol Phillips will have a presentation about “The History of Fly Fishing in America” including movies like “A River Runs Through It” which have influenced the sport. Be prepared for a surprise that Carol will bring along.

Carol is a member of the NW Arkansas Chapter and a Life Member of Trout Unlimited. Carol is descended from a long line of flyfishing men and women who seemingly never parted with any fly fishing equipment. She inherited a bewildering amount of fly fishing gear and has only parted with one fly rod which was donated in 1990 to the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester, Vermont.

She received BA and MA degrees in history-related fields which led to research and curiosity fulfilling opportunities concerning the history of fly fishing. She has been fortunate to have fly fished for various fish species on five continents and has taught many people of all ages to fly cast and fly fishing techniques through numerous organizations and educational programs.

Growing up in Louisiana, she often traveled with fly fishing friends and family to Arkansas to escape the heat and humidity Louisiana is known for. She always knew she would retire to Arkansas. In 2017 she and her husband Dale did indeed retire to Bella Vista.

Join us for Carol’s exciting and informative program. Social time (dinner on your own) begins at 6 p.m. with Carol’s presentation at 7 p.m. We will adjourn by 8 p.m. We will have raffles for great food and equipment items, and some NWATU giveaways.

Remember 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Eat My Catfish in Fayetteville, AR.

Stay tuned for more upcoming Chapter meetings.
